FIFA will host two 'World Cups' in 2022: Gianni Infantino

The football world, which had come to a standstill due to the COVID-19 epidemic, has resumed. And FIFA and UEFA are trying their best to smooth this way. But this time bigger news came to the fore. In the year 2022, a shocking event is going to happen in the history of football. Because the governing body of world football wants to organize two ‘World Cups’ that year.

Due to COVID-19, the football schedule has been changed. However, it is certain that the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held in Qatar. The Club World Cup will be held in the summer of the same year. The plan came from FIFA President Gianni Infantino himself. So UEFA has agreed. This is what the Spanish media ‘Marca’ reported.

For the first time in the history of the Middle East, Qatar will host the FIFA World Cup in winter. This will lead to a major change in the football schedule. Especially in club football. At least before the 2023/24 season, this schedule is unlikely to be normal. This will also affect the European Championship.

Due to COVID-19, the event of this year’s European Championship has been postponed to 2021. The Club World Cup was scheduled to take place in China in the near future. The event has also been postponed for a year due to Corona. Twenty-four clubs will receive 20 million euros for participating in the event, and another club will receive an additional 100 million euros if they win the title.

If all goes well, six clubs from South America will take part in the next edition of the Club World Cup along with six clubs from Europe. The rest will be filled by CONCACAF, clubs from Asia, Africa, and Oceania.
